• Full Bonus Protection is an optional extra that you can request which provides an extra layer of security for your no-claims discount as following a claim your earned NCD (No Claims Discount) remains at 5+ years and again limits the impact of the claim on your premium.
• Step-back bonus protection, also known as step-back no-claims discount provides a layer of security for your no-claims discount should there be a claim by limiting the impact of the claim on your premium.
  Your earned NCD (No Claims Discount) gets ‘stepped back’ upon a claim by a predefined number of years determined by your insurance provider and the specific policy terms. 
  E.g. If you have a 5-year NCD and you make a claim with step-back protection, depending on your insurer your NCD will step back to a 3-year level or a 2-year level instead of being reset to zero.  The exact step-back level and its impact on your premium will depend on the insurance provider and the specific policy details.
• No bonus protection - without any bonus protection, your no claims bonus/discount will reduce down to zero years following a claim. As a result this could have an impact on future premiums and/or the ability to move to alternative insurer.

It is crucial to carefully review the terms and conditions of your policy to fully understand the level of bonus protection provisions on your policy.

Your annual insurance certificate and disc will be issued to you upon receipt of the requested documents as advised on the phone and outlined in the cover letter you received from us via email or by post. 

For every complete year you are driving on your own policy without an accident or a claim, you are entitled to a year’s no claims discount. These discounts are then used to reduce your insurance premium. Usually, this is obtained at the renewal stage of your insurance policy and is issued with your renewal invitation pack.

As your insurer give a discount and reduce your insurance premium for having claims free driving, we need to see proof so that we can keep that discount in place.

Good news we can offer various options to clients who may wish to sell their private car and transfer their no claims discount earned to their new van insurance.

We can also provide discounted quotes to car clients who wish to keep their car and insure their van as a second vehicle.

Please note, if you do not use the designated provider cover will not be provided.

Some insurers allow you to pay for your policy by monthly direct debit or through our third party finance provider, Close Premium Finance. If you would like to pay for your policy monthly, we may ask you to complete a direct debit mandate. Please note that we can only accept the mandate by post or a very clear scan.

Below are the dates that each insurer collects their monthly payment:

• AXA: Collect a deposit payment usually 5 days after you take out a policy with them or a renewal and then the following payments come out the 1st working day of every month.
• RedClick: Same date as your renewal each month.
• Zurich: Same date as your renewal each month.
• Aviva: Same date as your renewal each month.
• Allianz: The first Friday after your renewal date.
• Close Premium Finance: Same date as your renewal each month.

It is imperative you contact Insuremyvan.ie or your insurance company if you have missed a payment as this could result with your van insurance policy being cancelled.

If you have missed a direct debit and wish to make payment, please call us on (01) 660 6900, select option 1 (Insuremyvan.ie) and then option 3 (Direct Debit).

If your policy includes Breakdown cover you must contact the designated provider, they can provide you with emergency assistance at the roadside in the unfortunate event that your car or van suffers a mechanical or electrical breakdown. Remember, it's important to remain with your vehicle while the repairs are being completed.

We know claims can be stressful at the best of times, so we aim to make the claims process as quick and easy as possible. To make a change to your existing van insurance policy please call us on 01 660 6900, select option 1 (Insuremyvan.ie) and then option 4 (All Other Queries).

The most common changes are listed below:

1. Change of Vehicle: If you have a new van or if you have been provided with a temporary vehicle due to repairs, just contact our office where our team will ask for some information on the vehicle and the changeover can be done immediately.
2. Adding Drivers: If you wish to add a driver to your policy, you will need to provide us with the following information: name, date of birth and driving/claims history. If you wish to remove a driver, just notify one of the team and we can process it over the phone.

4. Proposal Form: If there is some information on your proposal form which is incorrect or you wish to query, you can amend the form itself, sign it and email to info@insuremyvan.ie or call us for further clarification.

Please note: No cover will be in place for any alterations until confirmed by us.

The cancellation process is hassle free. Simply return your insurance certificate and disc to our office with a letter confirming you wish to cancel your policy.

If you wish to suspend your policy, just complete the same process and give us a call to reinstate your policy. Suspending your policy is a great alternative to cancelling a policy as it means you don’t need to start all over again but please note if you are paying on direct debit or through finance you must continue to pay your direct debits and should your policy be suspended for more than 30 days you will receive a rebate for this period from your insurer at renewal date.

Please note: Should there be a claim notified on your policy during the period of insurance there will be no refund premium following a cancellation or suspension request.

Open Drive gives you the freedom to let someone else drive your van on a day to day basis. You should always refer to your certificate of insurance (generally section 6) and to your policy schedule for the full terms and conditions. Please note some insurers restrict driving to certain licence types, age and driving history including penalty point. Open Drive will never cover you to drive another vehicle through your own policy.

Driving other commercial vehicles benefit allows the policyholder only to drive other people’s vans on an occasional basis. This is not to be used as a full-time option. There are very strict rules around this extension regarding cover, ownership and vehicle weight. Majority of van insurers DO NOT give this extension. Please refer to your certificate of insurance and your schedule to see if this cover is available. This does not extend to driving other people’s private cars.
